Aid Units are BLS.  Some stations will drop back to BLS (Aid Units) if there are not enough Medics on duty to man 7 Rescue Units.  
The order of priority for staffing units as ALS is: 11, 21, 23, 10, 12, 13, 22, 11/A.

Engine and Rescue 11/A (Eleven Adam) are manpower units used to cover stations at training and to supplement coverage
 in Station 11's first-due area (the busiest in the District)
